DAMIEN PERFORMS AT IMPROV OLYMPIC THIS WEEKEND
Oct 12th
You heard it right and you heard me announce it in the third person, so you know it’s a big deal.
I’ll be live and in the flesh to entertain the masses with real-life stories based on audience suggestions at Improv Olympic in Hollywood this Saturday night for the Dr. God show. And guess what else you guys? Star of the silver screen Matthew Lillard will be performing in the Dr. God show.
I’ll tell a story and then some of the best improvisers in LA (seriously, these guys are really good) will then create scenes based on my stories. It’s fun, it’s not expensive and iO has a bar with a lot of cheap booze. You really have no excuse. Come say hi.
I’M NOW ON WITSTREAM.COM
Sep 15th
The other morning I woke up and performed the daily ritual of rubbing my eyes and reaching immediately for my cell phone to check e-mails, texts and twitter. It’s a pathetic ritual as I’m nude, lanky and pale throughout the entire process. Anyway, I opened up an email that simply read, “WitStream”. I read the email and realized that I was being invited to join WitStream.com.
What is WitStream? It’s a website that was started by Michael Ian Black and Lisa Cohen and it culls funny tweets from funny people on twitter. To be honest, I had no idea I could be a funny writer on a consistent basis until about 6 months ago when I stopped twitpic’ing (sp?) my sandwiches and started writing things I found interesting; turns out, I surprised myself and started writing funny stuff. Other funny people who I found really funny started telling me I’m funny. Long story short, I’m honored to be a part of such a cool group of comedians and writers for whom I have a raging comedy-boner. (I mean have you seen @robdelaney or @daveholmes’s twitter feed? Incredible.) Using twitter, and now WitStream, as a virtual “comedy writer’s room” has made me a better writer and is fertile ground from which to draw inspiration for future tweets. Check out WitStream out. Some really talented folks on there and I feel honored to be a part of it all.
FILLING IN FOR SEACREST
Jul 12th
Hey guys, I’m about an hour away from heading to bed here on the West Coast, (It’s 7:45pm) because tomorrow through Thursday I will be filling in for Ryan Seacrest on his morning show at 102.7 KIIS FM. The show is from 6-10am. If you can tune in, awesome. If not, there will be a gaping hole left in your life you may never fully recover from emotionally.
IT’S POSITIVE DAY ON TWITTER
Apr 14th
Dave Holmes and a few friends have started Positive Day on Twitter today. If you are a fan of my Twitter feed, thank you. But, I must admit, it’s not always the most positive, inspiring thing to read as it is mostly jokes and comedic takes on pop culture. (Do you know how hard it is to restrain myself from writing a KFC Double Down joke today!?) Now the way I see it, there’s nothing wrong with being snarky and having opinions, I just thought it would be nice to take a day to put into perspective how awe inspiring it is to be alive. Also, to have been given the gift of having so many brilliant, talented, smart and caring friends who challenge and inspire me every day and drive me to be a better person. If you aren’t into the positive day thing, that’s cool, no one is forcing you to take part in it. But, I thought it was necessary for me to explain why I’m taking part. So, if you are in the middle of enjoying your positive day, here are a couple of videos that I saw a while ago that always help redeem my outlook on life. Enjoy!
and another…
