140 TWEETS NIGHT
I can only say that I was honored to have shared the same stage tonight with Rob Huebel, Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, Michael Ian Black, Thomas Lennon, Dave Holmes and many more super funny people. (Big thanks to Paul Scheer for the invite) We all took part in “Night of 140 Tweets” for Haiti. I arrived early to the restaurant/bar Bird’s that was used for holding all of the Celeb Tweeters. Waiting outside in line in front of me and Grasie Mercedes was Ed Helms and Michael Ian Black. Michael and I talked about hosting the Late Late Show back in 2004 when CBS’ was looking for the next heir to that throne. Black was really nice and very funny; teasing me about getting to go on stage fifth. I told him that the crowd will still be electrified when I go on as number 140. (I was actually somewhere in the 50′s, I think) Upon walking into Bird’s I noticed Ashton Kutcher and Ben Stiller hanging out in the corner, and Dane Cook hanging out by himself in an opposite corner. I got a chance to talk to Ben for a bit and couldn’t thank him enough for letting me being part of such an innovative concept. Then, the Tweets started. One after another. The winner of the night for me goes to @richsommer who came out on stage completely naked cupping his private parts and said, “”I had a terrible dream that I was onstage, naked, in front of a bunch of people. Weirdest part: @alyankovic was there.” (Al Yankovic WAS there btw)
I then got the call that my group was up next, “Group 5″. So off I went to the backstage area of UCB. In front of me was Alan Yang who is a super funny writer for Parks and Rec, and in front of him was the creator of Parks and Rec. The pressure was on. I met Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer backstage and they asked me my Twitter handle so they could announce me. “And now…@DamienFahey!!!” I pulled the curtain back and walked onto the tiny stage to a packed house and read my Tweet. “When I’m confused, I ask myself, “What would Lady GaGa do?”. Then I immediately bedazzle the F*CK out of whatever is in front of me.”. APPLAUSE, LAUGHTER, ADRENALINE. Very cool.
If you want to see the 140 Tweets you can go to iTunes or CLICK HERE and the link will take you to Amazon where you can buy the show. I highly recommend it as all proceeds go to relief for Haiti.
